Apulien und die Basilikata, die Regionen am Stiefelabsatz von Italien, galten lange als vergessene Gegend − irgendwo im Süden, an der Adria, gegenüber Albanien. Das hat sich geändert. Laut „National Geographic“ ist Apulien eine der schönsten Regionen der Welt und gleichzeitig „Brücke zwischen Okzident und Orient“. Der südlichste Zipfel des Landes zwischen der Adria und dem Ionischen Meer verströmt eine Mischung aus Ursprünglichkeit, Kultur und Lebensart. Bis heute sind die Menschen mit der Tradition ihres Landes tief verwurzelt. Apulien ist mit seinen traumhaften Landschaften und spektakulären Zeugnissen großer Kulturgeschichte zu einer Sehnsuchtsregion geworden.
Italy’s unknown south - Apulia and the Basilicata
Apulia and the Basilicata, two regions on the boot heel of Italy, have long been regarded as forgotten regions - somewhere in the south, on the Adriatic coast, opposite Albania. This has all changed. According to “National Geographic”, Apulia is one of the most beautiful regions in the world and at the same time, a “bridge between occident and orient”. The most southerly tip of the country between the Adriatic and Ionian Sea exudes a mixture of naturalness, culture and way of life. Up to the present, the people of this region are deeply rooted in the tradition of their country. With its fantastic landscapes and spectacular remnants of a rich cultural past, Apulia has become a magnet for tourists.
