Slowenien ist eines der landschaftlich und kulturell vielfältigsten Länder der Europäischen Union. Das Land zwischen Adria und Alpen ist wie ein Kontinent auf kleinstem Raum. Gerade einmal halb so groß wie die Schweiz, liegen in Slowenien nur einen Steinwurf voneinander entfernt Burgen, Bäche und Bergseen.

Beeindruckende Nationalparks mit faszinierenden Landschaften und einer vielfältigen Tier- und Pflanzenwelt, atemberaubende Karstgebiete mit Schluchten, Grotten und Höhlen, kleine Bergdörfer und -täler inmitten satter Bergwiesen, das Mittelmeer und die Panonnische Tiefebene prägen seinen besonderen Charme.

Die Slowenen sind stolz auf ihr schmuckes Land und auf ihr Wasser. Fast alle Flüsse, Bäche und Seen haben Trinkwasserqualität. Das Land hat den Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser sogar als Grundrecht in die Verfassung aufgenommen.

Slovenia: between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea

In terms of its landscape and culture, Slovenia is one of the most diverse countries in the European Union. Located between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps, this country is almost like a continent on a small scale. Just one and a half times the size of Switzerland, castles, brooks and mountain lakes are only a stone’s throw apart in Slovenia.

Its special charm is attributed to its impressive national parks with fascinating landscapes and a diverse fauna and flora, breathtaking karst area with gorges, grottos and caves, small mountain villages and valleys dotted between luscious mountain meadows, the Mediterranean Sea and the lowland plains of Panonnia.

The Slovenians are proud of their picturesque country and their water. The water in almost all rivers, brooks and lakes is of drinking-water quality. The country has even included access to clean drinking water as a basic right in its constitution.
