Die drei renommierten Naturfotografen Bernhard Volmer, Jürgen Borris und Willi Rolfes sind ein Jahr lang mit der Kamera in ihrem Heimatland Niedersachsen unterwegs. Ihr Ziel ist es, die Landschaften, Pflanzen und Tiere des Bundeslandes so zu fotografieren, wie wir sie normalerweise nicht zu sehen bekommen. Anlässlich des 75. Geburtstags von Niedersachsen im Jahr 2021 sollen die Bilder in einer großen Wanderausstellung präsentiert werden.

Jeder der drei Fotografen hat dabei besondere Herausforderungen zu bestehen: Bernhard Volmer versucht, am Dümmer und im Meller Land seltene Vögel zu fotografieren. Jürgen Borris braucht im Solling viel Geduld, bis er die scheue Wildkatze endlich vor die Kamera bekommt. Und Willi Rolfes ist schon im ersten Morgengrauen im Moor unterwegs, um den Schlupf der Libellen abzulichten. Die Dokumentation begleitet die Fotografen bei ihrem aufwendigen Projekt.

On the lookout for photos

The three renowned wildlife photographers Bernhard Volmer, Jürgen Borris and Willi Rolfes are underway with their cameras in their home state of Lower Saxony for a full year. Their aim is to photograph landscapes, plants and animals in this federal state in a way we normally don’t get to see. To mark the 75th anniversary of Lower Saxony in 2021, they intend to present their photos in a large travelling exhibition.

During their work, each of the three photographers has to cope with special challenges: Bernhard Volmer tries to photograph rare birds along the banks of the Dümmer Lake and in the “Meller Land”. In the Solling, Jürgen Borris needs lots of patience before he can finally photograph the shy wild cat. And Willi Rolfes is underway in the moor at the break of dawn in order to take shots of hatching dragonflies. The documentary accompanies the photographers during their demanding project.
