Im direkten Vergleich zwischen unserer Gegenwart und der Entstehungszeit der Gemälde zeigt sich auch der topografische und kulturhistorische Wandel einer Region. Als würde der Zuschauer gewissermaßen in die Bilder klettern können, liefern die Motive Zugang zu fünf Sehnsuchtsorten Europas.
Vistas of longing - painters and their landscapes
Legendary landscape paintings line the route of this five-part discovery tour through Germany, France, England, Spain and Italy. By way of Caspar David Friedrich we open the doors to the island of Rügen, by Paul Cézanne − the Provence, by William Turner − Wales, by Pablo Picasso − Barcelona and by Tizian Vecellio − Venetia.
In direct comparison between the present and the time the paintings were created, the topographical and culture-historical changes within a region are also portrayed. As if the onlooker could somehow climb into the paintings, the motifs grant access to five places of longing in Europe.
