Nachdem sich ein tödlicher Virus auf der Insel Sløborn ausgebreitet und den Großteil der Bevölkerung getötet hat, muss sich eine Gruppe Überlebender vier Monate nach der Katastrophe auf der nahezu verlassenen Insel bewähren. Nachdem viele BewohnerInnen Sløborns an der verhängnisvollen Taubengrippe gestorben sind, wurde die Insel evakuiert. Doch eine kleine Gruppe von Menschen hat sich gegen den Abtransport gewehrt und auf der Insel versteckt, aus Angst, auf dem Festland einer noch größeren Ansteckungsgefahr ausgesetzt zu sein. Ein brisantes Gemisch aus unterschiedlichen Charakteren, das zu explodieren droht, als die Annehmlichkeiten der Zivilisation immer weiter wegbrechen. Der Kampf um Essen, Schutz und Information wird immer härter, und bald wird klar, wie dünn der Firnis von Moral, Erziehung und Menschlichkeit ist.

After a deadly virus has spread across the island of Sløborn and killed the majority of the population, a group of survivors are put to the test on the almost deserted island for four months after the catastrophe. After many residents of Sløborn had died of the fatal pigeon flu, the island was evacuated. But a small group of people resisted the evacuation and hid on the island for fear of being exposed to an even greater risk of infection on the mainland. A volatile mixture of different characters on the verge of exploding when the comforts of civilisation crumble away. The fight for food, protection and information becomes increasingly intense, and it soon becomes clear how thin the varnish of morality, education and humanity actually is.
