Fledermaus und Feldhamster kontra Bagger und Baumaschinen: Immer öfter kommt es in Niedersachsen dazu, dass seltene Tiere wichtige Baumaßnahmen behindern. Werden vom Aussterben bedrohte Tierarten auf Baugrundstücken gefunden, verzögert sich das Projekt. Manchmal platzt das Vorhaben sogar, die Natur hat meistens Vorrang. Oft müssen dann Fachleute hinzugezogen werden, die aufwändige Bestandsaufnahmen machen, Ausgleichsmaßnahmen planen oder Umsiedlungen vornehmen.
Was hat es mit diesen Tieren auf sich und warum sind sie so mächtig, dass sie Bauunternehmer zur Verzweiflung bringen? Das erzählen Biologen und Naturschützer, die sich für diese seltenen Arten einsetzen. Das TV-Feature dokumentiert ihre umfangreichen Schutzmaßnahmen auf Baustellen in Wilhelmshaven, Celle und Salzgitter.
Nature takes priority!
Bats and field hamsters versus excavators and construction machines: more and more frequently in Lower Saxony, situations arise in which rare animals hinder important building projects. If animals threatened by extinction are found on building sites, the project in question is delayed. Sometimes the project is even abandoned altogether; priority is mostly given to nature. It is often necessary to consult experts who carry out costly inventories, plan compensation measures or undertake resettlements.
What is special about these animals and why are they powerful enough to drive building contractors to despair? This is explained by biologists and nature conservationists who devote themselves to the protection of these rare species. The TV feature documents their extensive protection strategies on building sites in Wilhelmshaven, Celle and Salzgitter.
