Romy Schneider as well as Jim Rakete and Petra Schürmann drove one. It was the epitome of elegance and a coveted status symbol of post war years: the Karmann Ghia! Even though it only had a few horsepower under its bonnet, this was more than compensated by its elegant appearance.
The classic of Italian design was manufactured in the otherwise less glamorous city of Osnabrück. This is where Karmann built the Ghia as well as many other cars, mostly convertibles for well-known brands such as Mercedes, VW or BMW.
