Zwischen Speisesaal, Liegekur und Therapie kreuzen sich ihre Wege, in einer Zeit des Ringens um den eigenen Seelenfrieden. Das Haus schneit ein und alles wird langsam und leise. Die Geister und Geschichten aus den langen Korridoren werden zum Begleiter ihrer Tage.

Währenddessen gräbt eine Historikerin im Hausarchiv nach Dokumenten aus der Frühzeit der Kuranstalt. Sie erforscht das Sanatorium für eine Dissertation und spannt einen Bogen von der Neurasthenie zur „inneren Unruhe“ der Gegenwart. Das Haus wird zum Schauplatz für eine Archäologie der Erschöpfung.

Forms of modern exhaustion

The story of two people going through a crisis coincides with the reality of the last sanatorium of its kind. For more than a century, people have come to this place in the hope of being cured. The same goes for Nina and Henri, who are middle-aged, burnt out and from different backgrounds. Both are struggling to find their own peace of mind, and their paths keep crossing in the dining room and the treatment and therapy areas. The house is covered in snow and everything becomes slow and quiet. The ghosts and stories from the long corridors become their companions.

Meanwhile, a historian is digging through the house archives for records from the early days of the spa. She is researching the sanatorium for her dissertation and intends to trace a narrative from neurasthenia to the “inner unrest” of the present day. The building becomes the showcase for an archaeology of exhaustion.
