Berlin, 2003: Für Eva Sahlmann, Managerin in einem Hotel am Brandenburger Tor, beginnt der “glückliche Tag” mit einem Ereignis, das sie für eine Belästigung hält. Ein Page hat den Auftrag, ihr eine Rose und einen Briefumschlag zu überreichen. Verärgert verweigert sie die Annahme und befiehlt dem Pagen, beides wegzuwerfen. Die Welt bleibt für sie stehen, als sie einen Mann durch die Hotelhalle gehen sieht. Sie treibt den Pagen an, den Brief wieder herbeizuschaffen. Er enthält nur einen Zettel mit einer Uhrzeit. Ein Taxi bringt sie zu einer Hütte im ehemaligen Ost-Berlin. Die Hütte ist versperrt, aber anhand eines Arrangements im Inneren erkennt sie, dass sie dort erwartet worden wäre ...
A lucky day
Berlin, 2003: for Eva Sahlmann, manageress of a hotel near the Brandenburg Gate, the ”lucky day” begins with an incident that she at first considers to be a nuisance. A pageboy is requested to hand over a rose and an envelope to her. Annoyed by the incident, she refuses acceptance and orders the pageboy to throw both of them away. She freezes in her tracks when she sees a man walking through the hotel lobby, and asks the pageboy to find and return the letter. This only contains a note with a time written on it. A taxi delivers her to a hut in former East Berlin. Although the hut is locked, she realises from an arrangement inside that she would have been expected to turn up ...
