Mayday! Feuer auf dem Schiff, Mann über Bord, Infarkt auf dem Meer oder Segler auf Grund: Die Seenotretter helfen bei Wind und Wetter. Einsatzbereit rund um die Uhr, können sie jederzeit auf Nord- und Ostsee Hilfe leisten und Menschenleben retten. Für die Doku-Serie DIE SEENOTRETTER hat sich die Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (DGzRS) erstmals monatelang auf ihren gefährlichen Einsätzen mit der Kamera begleiten lassen. Im Fokus stehen dabei die Teams auf den fünf einsatzstärksten Rettungskreuzern und -booten der DGzRS-Stationen Deutsche Bucht/Helgoland, Warnemünde, Cuxhaven, Travemünde und Norderney. Neben den hauptberuflichen wird auch die Arbeit der freiwilligen Seenotretterinnen und -retter gezeigt.

Ready for action around the clock, its team can provide assistance and save lives on the North and Baltic Seas at any time. For the first time, this documentary series, “DIE SEENOTRETTER”, follows the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger - DGzRS) over a few-month period, and captures some of its dangerous missions. In the spotlight are the crews of the five most heavily deployed rescue cruisers and boats at the DGzRS stations in the German coastal areas of German Bight/Helgoland, Warnemünde, Cuxhaven, Travemünde and Norderney. The work of both the full-time professionals and the volunteer sea rescuers is shown.
