As a result of foot and mouth disease in 2001 - to top their everyday fight for survival - seventy German and Dutch circus families have been forced into ruin. On the 180th anniversary of their founding, the old-established circus family ”May” from Lehrte near Hannover is now facing the prospect of their last performance.
