Die 19-jährige Schönheit war 1954 vier Monate lang die Muse des Ausnahmekünstlers und half ihm über eine persönliche Krise hinweg. Eine Schaffensperiode in Picassos Leben, die bisher noch nie in einem Film dargestellt wurde. Sylvette David lebt heute in Südengland und berichtet von der einmaligen Begegnung mit dem Jahrhundertgenie.

Parallel dazu wird die Ankaufsgeschichte des berühmtesten Sylvette-Bildes erzählt. Die Bremer Kunsthalle kauft das Gemälde „Sylvette, 3. Mai 1954“ bereits 1955. Wie es auf spektakuläre Weise von Frankreich nach Deutschland kommt und wie ein junger Bremer Kunsthändler das Bild bei dem berühmten Pariser Kunsthändler Kahnweiler erwirbt, ist zuvor noch nie filmisch dokumentiert worden.

Sylvette - Picasso’s model

For the first time, this documentary sheds light on the role of Sylvette David in Picasso’s work. In 1954, the 19 year-old beauty was the muse of this exceptional artist for four months and helped him to overcome a personal crisis. A creative period in Picasso’s life which has so far never been presented in a film. Sylvette David, who today lives in the south of England, reports on her unique encounter with the genius of the century.

Parallel to this, the documentary tells the story about how the most famous Sylvette painting was bought. The “Bremen Kunsthalle” bought the painting “Sylvette, 3rd of May 1954” as early as 1955. It has never before been documented cinematically how the painting came from France to Germany in a spectacular way and how a young art dealer from Bremen acquired it from the famous Parisian art dealer Kahnweiler.
