7.500 Küstenkilometer und 400 Inseln − fast jeder Däne wohnt am Wasser. Nahezu alle duzen sich. Die am rauen Nordseewatt zu Hause sind, beschreiben sich stolz als ein bisschen stur, eng mit den deutschen Friesen verbandelt. Und obwohl sehr nahe, hat das Meer gegenüber − die Ostsee − eine völlig andere Natur erschaffen: das Inselreich eines „hyggen“ Völkchens mit Mythen, Spuk und Königin.

Die Dokumentationsreihe LAND ZWISCHEN DEN MEEREN zeigt die überraschende Vielfalt Dänemarks in faszinierenden Bildern, erkundet mit einem kleinen Plattbodenschiff vom Wasser aus.
 

A country between two seas - from the Wadden Sea National Park to the South Funen Archipelago

A three-part film trip all around Denmark: from the North Sea, the often choppy “West Sea” of the Danes with its tides, as far as the charming Baltic Sea islands of the South Funen Archipelago.

A 7500 kilometre-long coastline and 400 islands - nearly all Danes live close to the sea. Almost all of them greet each other using the familiar “you” form. Those who live in the rough climate of the North Wadden Sea proudly describe themselves as being a bit stubborn, similar to the German Frisians. And although very close, the Baltic Sea on the opposite side has created totally different natural characteristics: the island kingdom of the "hyggen" people with their myths, spooks and a queen.

The documentary series “LAND ZWISCHEN DEN MEEREN” portrays Denmark’s surprising diversity by way of fascinating shots taken from the water in a flatboat.
