Die französische Compagnie XY ist eine weltberühmte Akrobatengruppe, deren 19 Ensemble-Mitglieder aus zehn verschiedenen Ländern stammen. Ihr Stück „Möbius“ erregte nach seiner Premiere Ende 2019 großes Aufsehen. Denn die Choreografie des Stücks ist inspiriert von den atemberaubenden Flugfiguren eines Starenschwarms und verlangt höchste akrobatische Präzision. Nach dem Lockdown laufen die Proben für das erfolgreiche Stück im Sommer 2020 wieder an. Doch nun bleiben den ArtistInnen nur zehn Tage, um die hochkomplexen Figuren für eine Aufführung in Barcelona neu einzustudieren.
Der SCHWARM dokumentiert die turbulente Probezeit bis zum spektakulären Auftritt im Amphitheater von Barcelona. Er porträtiert dabei Menschen, die für ihre künstlerische Profession an ihre Grenzen gehen − geistige, körperliche und die Grenzen der Schwerkraft.
Flock of starlings - the XY Compagnie high in the air
The French XY Compagnie is a world famous team of acrobats comprised of 19 ensemble members from 10 different countries. Following its premiere at the end of 2019, their act “Möbius” caused a great sensation. For the choreography of this act is inspired by the breathtaking flight manoeuvres of a flock of starlings and demands perfect acrobatic precision. After the lockdown, rehearsals for their successful act resumed in the summer of 2020. But the artists only had ten days to practise their highly complex acrobatic stunts in time for a performance in Barcelona.
The “SCHWARM” documents the turbulent rehearsal time up to their spectacular appearance in Barcelona’s amphitheatre. The documentary portrays people who go to the limits in their artistic profession - mentally and physically, defying the forces of gravity.
