Das Ermittlerteam der Bundespolizei Thorsten Falke und Julia Grosz wird unter strengster Diskretion mit einer heiklen Aufgabe betraut: Der 17-jährige Juan ist aus einem feinen Elite-Internat verschwunden. Sein Vater ist Botschafter eines autoritär regierten Landes, dessen Präsident gerade im Begriff ist, für einen Staatsbesuch nach Deutschland zu kommen; ein fragwürdiger Despot, der mit Folterungen von Oppositionellen zur Berühmtheit wurde.
Während Juans Freundin die schlimmsten Befürchtungen hat, vermutet sein bester Freund, dass sich Juan lediglich den offiziellen Feierlichkeiten entziehen wollte. Juans Verschwinden bringt auch das Lehrerehepaar, das die Schule leitet, in große Bedrängnis, denn der gute Ruf des Internats ist ihr wichtigstes Kapital. Im Verlauf der Ermittlungen erlangt der Fall höchste politische Brisanz.

Thorsten Falke and Julia Grosz, the investigation team of the federal police, are trusted with a tricky task demanding utmost discretion: 17 year-old Juan has disappeared from a fine, elite boarding school. His father is the ambassador of a country under authoritarian rule, whose president is on the verge of coming to Germany on a state visit; a questionable despot, who became famous as a torturer of his opponents.
While Juan’s girlfriend fears the worst, his best friend suspects that Juan only wants to avoid attending the official festivities. The teacher couple who run the school are also put under great pressure by Juan’s disappearance, because their most important capital is the good reputation of the boarding school. During the course of the investigation, the case becomes an extremely explosive political issue.
