Fritz Haarmann war einer der berüchtigsten Serienmörder des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er trieb sein Unwesen Anfang der 1920er-Jahre in den verwinkelten Straßen der Altstadt von Hannover. Mindestens 27 Menschen tötete der „Werwolf“ durch Bisse in den Kehlkopf. Haarmanns Opfer: junge Männer zwischen elf und 23 Jahren, für Haarmann nicht mehr als „Puppenjungs“. Der Film von Nils Loof durchleuchtet den vielschichtigen Kriminalfall. In den „Hauptrollen“: ein stadtbekannter Händler und Polizeispitzel, ein moralisch verwahrloster Junge, der längst seine Unschuld verloren hat, ein zorniger Philosoph, der gegen die Windmühlen der Justiz kämpft, und eine Stadt, die wegschaut, die das Offensichtliche nicht wahrhaben will. Fest steht: Ob Polizei, Ärzte, Nachbarn oder Familie, jeder von ihnen hat sich in irgendeiner Art und Weise schuldig gemacht.
Puppet boys - the Haarmann case
Fritz Haarmann was one of the most notorious serial killers of the 20th century. He was on the prowl in the winding alleyways of the old town quarter of Hanover at the beginning of the 1920’s. The “Werewolf” murdered at least 27 people by biting their throats. Young men between eleven and 23, no more than “puppet boys“ for Haarmann. The film by Nils Loof throws light on the multifaceted criminal case. In the “leading roles“: a well-known city trader and police informer, a morally depraved boy, who has long lost his innocence, an irate philosopher, who battles against the windmills of the judiciary, and a city that turns a blind eye to what is obvious. One thing is certain − whether a policeman, a doctor, a neighbour or a relative − each one of them was guilty in some way or another.
