Es ist 1998, und während Gerhard Schröder und Helmut Kohl sich beide als den einzig richtigen Kandidaten für das Amt des Bundeskanzlers propagieren, laufen sich der Kunststudent Klaus und die hauptberufliche Tochter Uschi immer wieder mal in Bremen über den Weg. Nach einem Streit mit ihrem Papa nimmt Uschi den Straßenkünstler zum ersten Mal wahr. Sie gehen zusammen einen Tee trinken, nur um zwei Tage später verheiratet in Dänemark aufzuwachen.

Beim Kennenlernen der jeweiligen Eltern ist der Schockfaktor groß: Uschis Vater und Uschi zelebrieren ihre dysfunktionale Kommunikation, während Klaus‘ Mutter eine offene Beziehung mit dessen Mitbewohner Jannis führt und die Stalkerin der beiden Jungs scheinbar einen Wohnungsschlüssel zur WG hat.

It is 1998, and while Gerhard Schröder and Helmut Kohl are busy campaigning for the position of Chancellor, the paths of the art student Klaus and the fully-employed daughter Uschi keep crossing in Bremen. Following a fight with her father, Uschi takes notice of the street-performer for the first time. They have a cup of tea together, only to wake up married in Denmark two days later.

When they meet their respective in-laws, the two of them are greatly shocked: Uschi and her father celebrate their dysfunctional communication, while Klaus’s mother has an open relationship with his flatmate Jannis and the female stalker of the two lads apparently has a key to the shared flat.
