MESSI AND MAUD (Originaltitel: LA HOLANDESA) erzählt die Geschichte von Maud und Frank, die sich auf eine Reise durch Chile begeben. Ihre Beziehung ist brüchig und besonders Maud sehr empfindlich geworden: Nach vielen vergeblichen Versuchen müssen die beiden sich eingestehen, dass sie keine Kinder bekommen können. Doch Maud will das nicht wahrhaben und akzeptieren. Nach einem großen Streit mit Frank bricht sie aus und beginnt, alleine weiterzureisen. Auf dieser Reise hat sie eine schicksalhafte Begegnung mit dem acht Jahre alten Chilenen Messi. Sie entdecken gemeinsam das Land, Maud findet immer mehr zu sich selbst und kann schließlich Frieden mit ihrem unerfüllten Kinderwunsch schließen.
MESSI AND MAUD (original title: LA HOLANDESA) tells the story of Maud and Frank, who set off on a trip to Chile. Their relationship is fragile and Maud, in particular, has become very sensitive: after many futile attempts, both of them are forced to accept the fact that they are unable to have children. But Maud doesn’t want to admit or accept this. After a big quarrel with Frank, she storms off and continues the journey on her own. On this trip she has a fateful encounter with the eight year-old Chilean boy Messi. While they explore the country together, Maud increasingly discovers the way to herself and is finally able to come to terms with her unfulfilled desire to have children.
