Es ist die Geschichte von sechs Freunden, die aus derselben Stadt, aus demselben Viertel und von derselben Schule stammten, hochbegabt, willensstark: Leó Szilárd, Eugene Paul Wigner, Edward Teller, Janos Lajos Neumann Margittai (John von Neumann), Endre Ernö Friedmann (Robert Capa) und Mihaly Kertesz Kaminer (Michael Curtiz). Sie mussten Europa verlassen. Sie gingen alle nacheinander in die USA.
Alle wurden weltberühmt und griffen in die Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts ein mit ihren Erfindungen, durch ihr Werk. Sie alle wollten sich Europa nicht kampflos, nicht tatenlos wegnehmen lassen. Dieser Film ist die Geschichte einer Clique von sechs Genies, deren Namen noch heute Geltung haben.
The great escape
This is a story about six friends who came from the same town, the same quarter, attended the same school, and were all highly gifted and strong-willed: Leó Szilárd, Eugene Paul Wigner, Edward Teller, Janos Lajos Neumann Margittai (John von Neumann), Endre Ernö Friedmann (Robert Capa) and Mihaly Kertesz Kaminer (Michael Curtiz). They were forced to leave Europe and fled one after another to the USA.
All of them became world famous and greatly influenced the history of the 20th century by way of their inventions and works. None of them wanted to idly look on and watch Europe being taken away from them without a fight. This film is a story about a group of six men of genius whose names still carry weight today.
