In der zweiteiligen Dokumentation besuchen wir die Länder Mazedonien und Montenegro, die durch den Kommunismus, den Balkankrieg und den Kampf um die Eigenstaatlichkeit in einen jahrzehntelangen Dornröschenschlaf versetzt wurden.
Mazedonien hat imposante Berge, glasklare Seen, ursprüngliche Orte und jahrhundertealte Bräuche − und es gilt als eines der ärmsten Länder Europas. Montenegro verdankt seinen Namen den schwarzen Bergen und bietet noch viel mehr: steile Felsen, malerische Seen, orthodoxe Klöster, venezianische Baukunst, dazu Sandstrände und sogar Fjorde wie in Norwegen. Beide Länder gehören noch zu den weithin unentdeckten Reisezielen Europas.
Macedonia and Montenegro
In the two-part documentary we visit the countries of Macedonia and Montenegro, which were put into a decade-long state of slumber as a consequence of communism, the Balkan War and the fight for sovereignty.
Macedonia has impressive mountains, crystal-clear lakes, unspoilt locations and century-old customs - and ranks among the poorest countries in Europe. Montenegro owes its name to its black mountains and offers a lot more: steep cliffs, picturesque lakes, orthodox monasteries and nunneries, Venetian architecture, and moreover, sandy beaches and even fjords such as those found in Norway. Both countries still belong to the largely undiscovered destinations in Europe.
