Zur Feier des 300. Jubiläums der Personalunion der Königreiche Hannover und Großbritannien fand die berühmte „Last Night of the Proms“ in der Royal Albert Hall in London am selben Abend wie das Konzert „Hannover Proms“ im Kuppelsaal in Hannover statt. Nach dem bewährten „Proms“-Konzept der BBC wurde das Konzert auch Open Air in den Stadtpark Hannover übertragen, wo zahlreiche Zuschauer das Ereignis fahnenschwingend beim Public Viewing verfolgten.
Es spielte die NDR Radiophilharmonie unter ihrem neuen Chefdirigenten Andrew Manze zusammen mit dem Tenor Andrew Staples, der Violinistin Arabella Steinbacher und drei Chören aus Hannover. Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert, der die Übertragungen der „Last Night of the Proms“ seit über 30 Jahren kommentiert, präsentierte die diesjährige Veranstaltung auf der Bühne des Kuppelsaals.
 

The 2014 “Last Night of the Proms” performance in Hanover

To mark the celebration of the 300-year anniversary of the personal union between the kingdoms of Hanover and Great Britain, the “Hannover Proms” concert in the “Kuppelsaal” in Hanover was staged on the same evening as the famous “Last Night of the Proms” in the Royal Albert Hall in London. In keeping with the successful “Proms” concept of the BBC, the concert was also relayed open air to the Hanover City Park, where numerous spectators followed the public viewing event with waving flags.
The NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under their new leading conductor Andrew Manze performed the concert together with the tenor Andrew Staples, the violinist Arabella Steinbacher and three choirs from Hanover. Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert, who has commentated on the broadcasts of the “Last Night of the Proms” for over 30 years, presented this year’s event on the stage of the “Kuppelsaal”.
