Konni (70) und Jasmin (43) bekamen beide zu sehr unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten in ihrem Leben die Diagnose Brustkrebs. Jasmin als junge Mutter, selbstständige Architektin, Konni, die als Krankenschwester arbeitete, kurz vor ihrer Rente. Durch die Diagnose geriet ihr altes Leben aus der Bahn und führte beide zu den Küstenpinkies, einem Drachenbootteam aus Wilhelmshaven, wo sie Halt fanden. Jede der 23 Frauen im Boot ist oder war an Brustkrebs erkrankt. Sie gehören damit der weltweiten Bewegung des “pink paddlings” an, denn Drachenbootsport ist erwiesenermaßen körperlich und mental äußerst hilfreich, um die Krankheit zu überwinden und Spätfolgen zu bekämpfen.
 
Für die Küstenpinkies ist das Drachenbootpaddeln nicht nur Therapie. Als ambitionierte Sportlerinnen wollen sie die Drachenboot-Europameisterschaft in Italien gewinnen. Die Dokumentation begleitet die Frauen von der deutschen Nordseeküste bis zur Adria, wo sie in Ravenna um die Goldmedaille kämpfen. PINK POWER ist eine Geschichte über Heilung, Zusammenhalt unter Frauen und sportlichen Triumph.
 

Konni (70) and Jasmin (43) were both diagnosed with breast cancer at very different times in their lives. Jasmin as a young mother, a self-employed architect, Konni, who worked as a nurse, shortly before her retirement. The diagnosis threw their old lives off course and led them both to the “Küstenpinkies”, a dragon boat team from Wilhelmshaven, Frisia, where they found support. Each of the 23 women in the boat is or was diagnosed with breast cancer. They are part of the worldwide “pink paddling” movement, as dragon boating has been proven to be extremely helpful, both physically and mentally, in overcoming the disease and combating late effects. 

For the Küstenpinkies, dragon boat paddling is more than just therapy. As ambitious athletes, they want to win the European Dragon Boat Championships in Italy. The documentary accompanies the women from the German North Sea coast to the Adriatic Sea, where they will compete for the gold medal in Ravenna. PINK POWER is a story about healing, cohesion among women and sporting triumph.
