Die Dokumentation zeigt innovative Methoden und lässt sie von drei führenden Köpfen der Klimaforschung beurteilen: Prof. Jan Minx aus Berlin, die US-Amerikanerin Prof. Jennifer Wilcox und Prof. Julia Pongratz aus München. Die Klimaexpert:innen bewerten Co2-Filteranlagen auf Island, das Ausbringen von Gesteinsmehl auf unseren Äckern, die Aufforstung von Mangroven in Bangladesch, das Bauen mit Holz im großen Stil, Experimente mit Algen in einem Münchner Labor sowie die Einsatzmöglichkeiten von Co2 speichernder Pflanzenkohle.
Die Dokumentation zeigt deutlich auf, wie dringend der Handlungsbedarf ist − und sie macht Hoffnung! Noch können wir es schaffen.
Cooling the earth − How do we remove Co2 from the air?
Our planet is getting warmer - this is clear. But how can we cool it down? Methods to get a grip on climate-damaging carbon dioxide are being tested around the world. This documentary presents innovative techniques to achieve this goal, which are assessed by three leading minds in climate research: Prof Jan Minx from Berlin, the US-American Prof Jennifer Wilcox and Prof Julia Pongratz from Munich. The climate experts assess Co2 filter systems in Iceland, the spreading of mineral powder on our fields, the reforestation of mangroves in Bangladesh, widespread timber construction, experiments with algae in a Munich laboratory and the potential uses of Co2-storing vegetable carbon.
The documentary clearly indicates how urgent the need for action is − and gives us cause for hope! We still have time to achieve this.
