Hameln ist die heimliche Hauptstadt des Weserberglandes. Die 1200-jährige Stadt an der Weser ist heute wegen ihres geschlossenen historischen Stadtbilds im Stil der Weserrenaissance eine Touristenattraktion. Zahlreiche Sagen entstanden in ihrer Umgebung, und die Gebrüder Grimm machten den "Rattenfänger von Hameln" unsterblich. An ihn erinnern heute nicht nur zahlreiche Denkmäler, sondern auch die Rattenfängerspiele: ein Open-Air-Theater, das jeden Sommersonntag aufgeführt wird.

Hamelin

Hamelin is the secret capital of the hilly country bordering the Weser valley (”Weserbergland”). On account of its intact historical townscape in the Weser Renaissance style the 1200 year-old town on the Weser is today a tourist attraction. Numerous legends were born in the town’s surroundings, and the Grimm brothers made ”The Pied Piper of Hamelin” immortal. He is not only commemorated by numerous monuments but also by the ”Pied Piper” performances: an open-air theatre event staged each Sunday during the summer.
