ARNOS TONLABOR greift in Bild- und Tonästhetik auf die Leitmaximen der „Musique Concrète“ zurück. Unvermittelt wird der Zuschauer in einen Strom von Bildern und Tönen gesogen. Drehort ist die Werkstatt des renommierten Film-Tonmeisters Arno Wilms. Die Kamera in ARNOS TONLABOR wird bestimmt durch eine ins Visuelle transformierte Faszination für den Maschinen-Ton. Dabei ist das Bild dem Ton nicht immer untergeordnet. Die Bilder können so den Ton motivieren und umgekehrt, sich gegenseitig vorantreiben, intensivieren und zurücknehmen. Eine visuelle Klangwelt entsteht, die nicht nur eine rein ästhetische Funktion hat. Indem die Film-Ton erzeugenden Apparaturen zum eigentlichen Gegenstand des Films werden, schließt sich der Kreis von Produktions- und Rezeptionsästhetik.


Arno's sound larboratory

“ARNOS TONLABOR” draws on the central maxims of “Musique Concrète“ to express picture and sound aesthetics. Viewers are unexpectedly drawn into a torrent of images and sounds. The shooting location is the workshop of the renowned film sound editor Arno Wilms. The camera in “ARNOS TONLABOR” is controlled by a fascination for mechanically-generated sound transformed into visual images. The pictures are not always subordinate to the sound. The pictures can motivate the sound and vice versa. They may expedite or intensify each other or even retract from one another. A visual world of sound is created, which not only has a purely aesthetic function. The fact that the film sound generators constitute the actual subject-matter of the film closes the circle of production and reception aesthetics.
