The Ihme Centre in Hanover is a symbol of the ups and downs of our cities. Planned as an urban utopia in the 1970’s, the monstrous construction with the largest concrete foundation in Europe is for the most part in a dilapidated state today. How could this dream turn into a ruin? And how will it be possible to realize a change for the better? In order to find this out, Constantin Alexander moved there himself in 2014. In discussions with residents, contemporary witnesses, architects and many others, he embarks on a journey to uncover the reasons for this construction, its rapid decline and strategies to bring about a new, sustainable and creative transformation. He not only discovers an economic crime thriller, but also the hope of a better future.
