Oliver Klös was born in the village of Königstein in the Taunus hills, at the foot of the castle walls in 1969. He now resides near Mainz, is in a relationship, has a three year old son and works as an editor for ZDFonline.
His first experiences with computer games was in the late 1970s on the then popular arcade machines like Space Invaders or Asteroids. Playing at home on an Atari 2600 system and later on a PC. In the early 1990s he started gaming with friends on LAN and over modem connections, through which he became familiar with the internet. At the time, the University of Mainz had started to provide internet access through a UNIX shell and early Web-Browsers like NCSA Mosaic and Netscape. He started working for the Universities data center and for the Institute for Political Sciences as Network and PC support advisor. He also taught university staff the intricacies and possibilities of the internet.
Oliver Klös has been employed by the german television company ZDF since 1998 as an editor in the online department. At present he is the team leader for the networks community and social media department. His recent projects include "GameCheck", "Virtueller Rundgang durch den Mainzer Dom" and Project Leader for the concept stage of "Universum der Ozeane 3D", nominated for a Serious Games Award in 2011. He occasionally features as a ZDF TV expert for computer and internet related topics.
